About the position

Cooper Electrical Construction Company is seeking Industrial Electricians to join their team in Sanford, NC. The role involves designing plans, making alterations, additions, and repairs to electrical systems, lighting fixtures, conductors, and associated materials and equipment within the industrial and commercial electrical industry. This position reports to the Superintendent.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, repair, install, service, and maintain electrical systems and subsystems, including conduit systems, lighting and power circuits, transformers, control equipment, switches, distribution panels, and bell and chime systems.
  • Install new or modified electrical installations according to local and national codes.
  • Install or replace necessary interior and exterior wiring for equipment, appliances, and lighting.
  • Install and repair electrical systems for lighting, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.
  • Assist in the design, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of various programmable logic control (PLC) systems.
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit.
  • Follow diagrams, plans, and specifications.
  • Demonstrate safe work habits and proper care of equipment and tools.
  • Plan electrical installations to minimize material waste.
  • Prepare and present schematics showing the location of wiring and equipment.
  • Be available for emergency situations as needed.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Requirements

  • Technical training in electrical systems; and four (4) years of experience as an electrician, including duties and responsibilities in industrial instrumentation and controls.
  • Knowledge of tools, materials, methods, and techniques associated with the electrical trade.
  • Familiarity with relevant electrical codes and safety regulations.
  • Ability to travel out of town or state as necessary to perform all phases of electrical work.
  • Skill in diagnosing and troubleshooting defects in all electrical systems and equipment and performing necessary repairs.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow safety rules and regulations.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from a variety of plans, drawings, one-line diagrams, sketches, and work orders.
  • Competently run medical electrical conduit (EMT) and rigid conduit (RIGID) of all sizes from ¾” to 4”.
  • Bend offsets, mounts, 90's, and kicks with manual and hydraulic benders.
  • Install and terminate panels, change gears, and disconnects.
  • Set up and pull wires, correctly numbering circuits and phase colors.
  • Install a variety of lighting fixtures and run cable tray and conduit.
  • Physically able to climb ladders and work standing for 8 to 12 hours a day.
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with electronic controls, device panels, sensors, and associated components.
  • Experience working at various heights, up to 90 feet using ladders, scaffolding, aerial lifts, walkways, or other safe work areas.
  • Ability to instruct and train workers in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
