About the position
The 3rd Rail Electrician Trainee position at Amtrak involves the construction and maintenance of third rail high voltage transmission systems in tunnels. This role is critical for ensuring the safety of operations around high voltage circuits and apparatus, and it requires the ability to work in various conditions and shifts. The position emphasizes teamwork, communication, and adherence to safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Construct, install, maintain, bond and test 3rd rail system.
- Work in proximity to high voltage circuits and apparatus while ensuring safety for all personnel and equipment.
- Operate company vehicles as needed in the performance of duties.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license before date of hire.
- Ability to read plans and specifications and follow written directions.
- Ability to pass required written exams, evaluation tests, and safety training upon hire.
- Willingness to work various shifts, including days, nights, and weekends, in all weather conditions.
- Must obtain a CDL within 90 days of hire.
Nice-to-haves
- Laborer or light electrical background.
- Experience as a journeyman electrician.
- Knowledge of tools, electricity, and safety procedures.
