About the position

The Electrical Power Systems Hardware Engineer III at Blue Origin will focus on the design and development of spacecraft electrical systems, particularly for high and medium power applications. This role involves creating and maintaining circuit schematics, PCB layouts, and conducting various analyses to ensure the safety and functionality of the hardware. The engineer will collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines and work closely with NASA on the Human Landing System program, contributing to the development of lunar transportation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead, and own high and low voltage, avionic designs that interact with electrical power consumers.
  • Own the rugged electronic hardware assemblies across the entire product life cycle, from concept and requirements definition to release to production.
  • Support power regulation and distribution architecture trade studies, analyses, performance characterization, and specification.
  • Conduct design risk analyses, failure modes effects and criticality analyses (FMECA), and root-cause analysis of test discrepancies.
  • Participate in program level technology development, mission assurance, and avionics development process improvements.
  • Effectively communicate development status, risks, and challenges to management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related disciplines.
  • Understanding of electronics hardware development, particularly in high voltage switching and power regulation.
  • Experience with analog, digital, or mixed-signal circuit design, including analysis, simulation, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of signal integrity, power, grounding, and board layout principles.
  • Familiarity with components such as ADCs, DACs, OpAmps, and power supplies.
  • Knowledge of communication methods like RS232, RS422, I2C, SPI, and Ethernet.
  • Desire to work hands-on throughout the development and production phases.
