About the position

The Electrical Engineer I position at The Modal Shop involves working within the Engineering Department to design and develop electrical hardware, firmware, and software products. The role emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement, with a focus on delivering high-quality outputs and supporting various teams within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical hardware, firmware, and software products.
  • Deliver rapid response to both intra-organizational and external technical supports.
  • Practice innovation through industry and engineering reading to stay current on most recent trends and technology.
  • Learn new software, design, and testing techniques as required.
  • Complete testing, ensure conformance to standards, and maintain high quality output while meeting deadlines.
  • Support Engineering, Quality, Production, and Product Group Teams by improving engineering designs for manufacturability, product quality, repeatability, and reproducibility.
  • Perform engineering and technical documentation duties, including developing design documentation, drawings, schematics, and production procedures in support of TMS ERP system.
  • Create and update necessary procedures and product documentation as requested by Engineering, Quality, Product Group, and Production Teams.
  • Review design documentation for other engineers and co-ops.
  • Promote principles of continuous improvement through TMS quality (QC/OI) systems.
  • Work with Production to qualify vendors and with Product Group Teams to provide technical support to customers.
  • May be required to mentor and oversee electrical engineering co-op students.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 0-3 years of experience with electrical hardware, software, and firmware aptitude.
