About the position

The Electrical Department Manager at AECOM is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the electrical engineering team, managing project workloads, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality electrical designs for various building projects. The position requires a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to mentor junior staff while maintaining strong client relationships. The role is pivotal in driving the success of complex projects and contributing to the overall mission of delivering a better world through infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop teams to complete building engineering projects.
  • Complete electrical power and lighting designs for building projects of all sizes.
  • Make major design recommendations and decisions with minimal input from senior staff.
  • Plan design work, calculate costs, and assign design duties to junior staff.
  • Coordinate design and schedule with other disciplines such as architectural, structural, and mechanical.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and design data for permanent project files.
  • Act as an adviser and review correspondence prepared by junior project team members.
  • Evaluate project staffing requirements and analyze problems.
  • Meet with clients, prepare proposals and presentations, and maintain good client relations.
  • Identify prospective clients and assist in marketing to develop new clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
  • Eight (8) years of related design experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Driver's License.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience scoping and drafting fees for engineering components of interdisciplinary project work.
  • Experience in strategic management of an engineering group.
  • Experience forecasting business plans for an engineering group.
  • Experienced in Electrical Power Calculation Software.
  • Experienced in application of National Electrical Code.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft programs and BIM software (Revit).
