Electrical Assessor II
About The Position
Facility Optimization Solutions, LLC (FOS), a subsidiary of CannonDesign, is seeking an Electrical Assessor II. This role involves conducting facility condition assessments of electrical and low-voltage systems for various building types across the US, including healthcare, education, sports, municipal, and commercial facilities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys travel and dislikes desk work. Candidates with backgrounds as a Journeyman or Master Electrician, Maintenance Electrician, or Instrumentational and Electrical Technician for an institutional employer are well-suited for this role. Projects are typically short, ranging from one to six months, with field deployments usually lasting one week and occurring no more than twice a month.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of related work experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required, as well as a clear aptitude for tablet and mobile device usage.
- Must be willing to travel up to 40% for out-of-town assignments; On average, projects include one week in the field, followed by two weeks in office.
- Must be physically able to walk the stated areas each day, climb fixed and sometimes extension ladders, walk on roof surfaces up to a 3/12 slope.
Nice To Haves
- Direct experience in conducting architectural facility condition assessments strongly preferred.
- Experience assessing healthcare and educational institutions strongly preferred.
- Prior cost estimating experience is valued but not required.
- Registration, licensure or technical certification in a related field preferred.
- Experience with Deltek Vision, Adobe Suite, and Bluebeam, valued but not required.
Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site facility assessments as part of a multidisciplinary team on existing buildings, evaluating building electrical systems, including emergency power, photovoltaic, fire alarm, security, data communication, and surveillance systems.
- Work effectively and efficiently with client and other on-site personnel to assess client assets; maintain average daily walk rate of 125-250k square feet.
- Determine the condition, remaining useful life, required costs, and remedial measures for electrical and low-voltage systems.
- Provide technical identification and description of deficiencies ranging from concerns to critical issues.
- Identify recommendations for correction and describe them with sufficient technical detail for future project planning and cost estimating.
- Interview building operations and maintenance staff to determine building history, previous work orders, and operations information; prepare project progress documentation for project manager review.
- Review work of peers; actively participate in post-project reviews.
- May handle other responsibilities as needed.
