EKT Teacher - East Gresham Elementary
About The Position
El Programa Hispano Católico (EPHC) is seeking an EKT Teacher to support the Early Kindergarten Transition Program. This role involves teaching a two-week summer program at the SUN Community School, designed to prepare children and families for a successful kindergarten year. The program focuses on academics, social-emotional learning, play, arts, music, exploration, and fostering friendships in a joyful and inclusive environment. SUN Community Schools act as neighborhood hubs, connecting students, families, and communities with resources through culturally specific advocacy and high-quality programming.
Requirements
- State of Oregon TSPC license with proper endorsement, highly qualified status.
- Current first-aid card.
- Bilingual in one or more of the following: Spanish.
- Ability to work well with a diverse group of individuals.
- Ability to effectively follow both written and oral directions.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with staff, families, and students.
- Experience with/or confident with public speaking.
- Must be able to organize work, take initiative, follow through, and pay attention to detail.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds.
- Satisfactory results from civil, criminal, and motor vehicle background check required.
Responsibilities
- Plans, prepares, and teaches EKT program instruction based on Oregon’s Early Learning Standards.
- Guides and supports EAs in their daily work.
- Creates a welcoming, engaging, and joyful kindergarten transition program.
- Supports in recruitment and family communication.
- Develops and maintains effective relationships with students.
- Collaborates with SUN staff and EKT parent educators.
- Attends all onboarding and training sessions prior to the program.
- Attends the family orientation meeting in July.
- Other duties as assigned by the Site Manager.
