About The Position

El Programa Hispano Católico (EPHC) is seeking an EKT Teacher to support the Early Kindergarten Transition Program. This role involves teaching a two-week summer program at Hall Elementary School's SUN Community School. The program is designed to provide children and families with a strong start for kindergarten, focusing on academics, social-emotional learning, play, arts, music, exploration, and building friendships in a joyful and inclusive setting. SUN Community Schools function as neighborhood hubs, offering resources and support to students, families, and the community through culturally specific advocacy, high-quality programming, and leadership opportunities.

Requirements

• State of Oregon TSPC license with proper endorsement, highly qualified status.
• Current first-aid card.
• Bilingual in Spanish.
• Ability to work well with a diverse group of individuals.
• Ability to effectively follow both written and oral directions.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with staff, families, and students.
• Experience with/or confident with public speaking.
• Must be able to organize work, take initiative, follow through, and pay attention to detail.
• Ability to lift 40 pounds.
• Satisfactory results from civil, criminal, and motor vehicle background check required.

Responsibilities

• Plans, prepares, and teaches EKT program instruction based on Oregon’s Early Learning Standards.
• Guides and supports Educational Assistants (EAs) in their daily work.
• Creates a welcoming, engaging, and joyful kindergarten transition program.
• Supports in recruitment and family communication.
• Develops and maintains effective relationships with students.
• Collaborates with SUN staff and EKT parent educators.
• Attends all onboarding and training sessions prior to the program.
• Attends the family orientation meeting in July.
• Other duties as assigned by the Site Manager.
