About The Position

El Programa Hispano Católico (EPHC) is an organization dedicated to supporting individuals in achieving their full potential. For nearly 40 years, EPHC has been committed to advancing racial equity and social justice by leveraging its Latine roots, culture, and community. This mission drives EPHC's response to local needs, addressing social determinants of health through its program areas: Housing, Economic Sustainability, Education, Community Wellness, and DV/SA Prevention and Intervention. EPHC serves over 30,000 individuals annually with more than 100 staff members, predominantly bilingual and bicultural. While affiliated with the Catholic Charities Network, EPHC welcomes staff and clients of all faiths. The EKT Facilitator role supports the Early Kindergarten Transition Program by leading a parent class designed to foster connections, build confidence in supporting their children, and share resources. This position also involves recruitment for a two-week summer program at the SUN Community School, focusing on academics, social-emotional learning, play, arts, music, exploration, and friendship building in a joyful and inclusive environment. SUN Community Schools function as social service hubs, empowering students, families, and communities through culturally specific advocacy, high-quality programming, and leadership opportunities.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in teaching adults.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds.
  • Satisfactory results from civil, criminal, and motor vehicle background check required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and facilitate activities and classes for parents and guardians of children in the EKT program to support a successful transition into kindergarten.
  • Teach parents how to assist their children in kindergarten and develop daily routines.
  • Foster a supportive environment for families to learn and grow.
  • Recruit students and families for the program in collaboration with the SUN site manager.
  • Consult and collaborate with the classroom teacher to align instruction and bring in guest speakers as needed.
  • Attend all onboarding and training sessions before the program starts.
  • Attend the family orientation meeting in July.
  • Lead the parent class once a week for 2 weeks.
  • Other duties as assigned by the program supervisor.
