About The Position

Under the supervision of the Plant Manager, this position is responsible for quality control and Safety supervisor duties including testing as well as leading the Safety initiative and is also involved in production control efforts when necessary. The role is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School education or equivalent.
  • One-year experience in laboratory procedures and environmental health and safety in a production environment.
  • Knowledge of testing procedures for concrete products and aggregate, and safety requirements including employee training, documentation and reordering.
  • Ability to use and operate various types of testing equipment and machines, forklifts, mixers and personal computers.
  • Possess a certificate to operate forklifts.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and mathematical skills.
  • Experience in public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Ability and desire to learn skills needed to perform duties.
  • Predictable and Regular attendance is required.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License

Responsibilities

  • Tests and inspect raw materials, work-in-progress and finished goods to ensure they meet established standards for quality.
  • Reports on changes in strength of raw materials and finished product and quality management. Recommends corrective action when appropriate.
  • Documents lab test results. Monitors process and documents change as required.
  • Analyzes belt counts to make sure mix designs do not fluctuate and if they do apply a corrective factor to the mix design to offset the change.
  • Reports weekly on quality within the plant and test results.
  • Direct the Safety initiative in the plant and yard.
  • Make sure employees, including temporary employees, receive safety training prior to beginning work.
  • Ensure company–required programs are maintained.
  • Complete monthly plant inspection and track written action items resulting from those inspections.
  • Ensure that OSHA 200 form is maintained and posting requirements are met.
  • Order and track safety and first aid supplies.
  • Ensures that all accidents and injuries are properly investigated and that the written report accurately describes the circumstances surrounding the accident/injury.
  • Ensures that the location meets all OSHA requirements.
  • Ensures that recordkeeping and documentation requirements are met.
  • Attending safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies and ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
  • All other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time by the company or its designated representatives.
