About the position

The Educational Technician (Child Development) position at the Department of the Air Force is primarily responsible for providing specialized developmental care and instruction for children aged 6 months to 5 years in the Child Development Center (CDC). The role includes oversight and supervision of a designated classroom, and the incumbent may act as the supervisor on duty in the absence of the CDC Director.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, implements, and reviews activity plans for children.
  • Observes and evaluates each child's health and development, maintaining records of observations.
  • Prepares and implements specialized programs for children with special needs.
  • Provides technical guidance and leadership to junior employees assigned to assist with program activities.
  • Participates in special projects related to child development.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • At least one year of specialized experience at the GS-04 level or equivalent, or four years of education above high school in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of child development program rules and procedures.
  • Knowledge of early child development theory and practices.
  • Ability to develop creative and innovative activity plans.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with children with special needs.
  • Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid.
