About the position

The position involves implementing the Pupil Appraisal process to identify suspected exceptional children and to re-evaluate those already identified. The role requires collaboration with classroom teachers and school personnel to ensure effective educational assessments and interventions for students requiring special education services.

Responsibilities

  • To intervene upon referral of a child for Special Education services
  • To participate in formal and informal educational assessment
  • To conduct classroom observations
  • To summarize the educational assessment after consultation and working with the classroom teacher
  • To recommend whether or not to conduct a diagnostic assessment after completion of the educational assessment
  • To work with classroom teacher on the diagnostic/prescriptive program for any child being continued in the current educational setting
  • To maintain appropriate records
  • To establish and execute a professional growth and self-evaluation plan
  • To work effectively with school personnel and staff
  • To consistently demonstrate self-direction
  • To submit accurate records and reports promptly
  • To exhibit professional ethics
  • To foster open communication and positive relationships with school personnel and staff
  • To foster open communication and positive relationships with the community
  • To perform any other duties assigned by the Director of Special Education
  • To follow State and School Board policies

Requirements

  • Certification as Assessment Teacher according to Bulletin 746
