The Educational Diagnostician is responsible for determining eligibility for placement in special instructional programs as a member of a multidisciplinary team. This role involves planning and developing individual educational plans based on the strengths and weaknesses of students, in accordance with local guidelines and current state-federal regulations. The diagnostician will also recommend dismissal from services when they are no longer needed, determine skills to be mastered by students, and suggest strategies and techniques for classroom management. Additionally, the position requires interpreting educational and diagnostic test data, conferring with special education teachers and other school personnel, and evaluating student progress based on Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs). The diagnostician will maintain confidential eligibility records, provide consultation to regular classroom teachers, and serve on the Annual Review Committee to review student progress. They will also ensure that legal files contain required documentation and stay current on all relevant laws and guidelines.
