About The Position

El Programa Hispano Católico (EPHC) is seeking an Educational Assistant (EA) to support the Early Kindergarten Transition (EKT) Program at Hall Elementary School. This role operates under the general supervision of the EKT Teacher and the SUN Site Manager. The EA will assist in all facets of the program, work with small groups and individual students, and contribute to recruitment efforts during a two-week summer program. The EKT program is designed to provide children and families with a strong foundation for a successful kindergarten experience, focusing on academics, social-emotional learning (SEL), play, arts, music, exploration, and friendship development within a joyful and inclusive classroom. SUN Community Schools serve as neighborhood hubs, connecting students, families, and communities with resources through culturally specific advocacy, high-quality programming, and leadership opportunities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Ability to effectively follow both written and oral directions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with staff, families, and students.
  • Experience with/or confident with public speaking.
  • Must be able to organize work, take initiative, follow through, and pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds.
  • Satisfactory results from civil, criminal, and motor vehicle background check required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual preferred: In one or more of the following is preferred: Spanish, Russian, Somali, Burmese or Vietnamese.

Responsibilities

  • Support the EKT classroom teacher, parent educator, and the SUN Site Manager in preparing and implementing the program for incoming kindergarteners.
  • Create a welcoming, engaging, and joyful kindergarten transition program.
  • Support in recruitment and family communication.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with students.
  • Collaborate with SUN and parent educators.
  • Attend all onboarding and training sessions before the program starts.
  • Attend the family orientation meeting in July.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Site Manager.
