About the position

The ESSA Education Program Consultant will be an integral member of the Bureau of School Improvement. This position is a field position, most time will be spent in schools directly supporting educators and leadership teams. The consultant will serve as a member of the school improvement team serving ESSA identified extended comprehensive and comprehensive schools, collaborating with other Department staff to provide service to CSI schools. Responsibilities include site visit participation, ongoing support for implementation, and maintaining knowledge of state and federal policy.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the school improvement team serving ESSA identified extended comprehensive and comprehensive schools.
  • Collaborate with other Department staff to provide service to CSI schools.
  • Serve as a member of the site visit team for CSI schools.
  • Provide ongoing support for implementation based on site visit reports and action plans.
  • Conduct observations of classrooms, coaching, modeling, and attendance at leadership meetings.
  • Support in the development of professional development, data analysis, problem-solving, and technical assistance.
  • Conduct on-site visits weekly to each assigned school.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of state and federal policy and the impact of proposed legislation.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university and five years of full-time post-graduate work experience in relevant areas.
  • A combination of a total of five years of post-graduate education and full-time experience.
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree and three academic years of teaching and/or administrative experience in PK-12 and/or a post-secondary educational institution.
  • Possession of a School Business Official Authorization from the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners and seven years of full-time professional experience in finance, accounting, or auditing.
