About The Position

As an Instructor at The Bay School in Santa Cruz, CA, you'll be an essential part of our mission to support individuals ages 5-22 with Autism, Developmental Disabilities, Brain Injury, or Neurobehavioral Disorders in the classroom in achieving their goals and aspirations. Through the proven methods of ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis), you will be providing compassionate care, facilitating personalized assistance, and engaging in skill-building activities. Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older to be eligible for employment
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Valid and current California driver’s license preferred
  • Availability: Monday through Friday: 7:30-4pm or 8am-4:30pm. This is a year-round program.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and empathy towards individuals with diverse abilities and backgrounds
  • Reliability, compassion, and patience, coupled with a genuine passion for making a positive impact on people’s lives
  • Ability to adjust to varying needs, preferences, and communication styles of those we support
  • Capacity to adapt to changing environments and respond effectively to unexpected situations

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with teachers to bring individualized educational plans (IEPs) to life, ensuring each student's unique needs are met.
  • Provide hands-on assistance with personal care tasks and expertly manage behavioral crises, offering unwavering support in a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Harness the power of positive behavior support strategies to cultivate essential social skills, enhance communication abilities, and promote independence among students.
  • Cultivate a supportive atmosphere where students feel valued, respected, and empowered to embrace their journey of learning and growth.
  • Thoroughly document student progress and maintain open lines of communication with parents, caregivers, and the multidisciplinary team, ensuring everyone is informed and involved in each student's educational journey.
