About The Position

The Bay School in Santa Cruz, CA is seeking a passionate and dedicated Education Instructor to join their team. This full-time role involves supporting individuals aged 5-22 with Autism, Developmental Disabilities, Brain Injury, or Neurobehavioral Disorders in a classroom setting. The instructor will utilize Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methods to provide compassionate care, personalized assistance, and skill-building activities to enhance the quality of life for students. Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Availability Monday through Friday: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. This is a year-round program.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and empathy towards individuals with diverse abilities and backgrounds.
  • Reliability, compassion, and patience.
  • Genuine passion for making a positive impact on people's lives.
  • Ability to adjust to varying needs, preferences, and communication styles.
  • Capacity to adapt to changing environments and respond effectively to unexpected situations.

  • Valid and current California driver's license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with teachers to implement individualized educational plans (IEPs).
  • Provide hands-on assistance with personal care tasks.
  • Manage behavioral crises and offer support in a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Utilize positive behavior support strategies to cultivate social skills, enhance communication, and promote independence.
  • Foster a supportive atmosphere where students feel valued, respected, and empowered.
  • Document student progress thoroughly.
  • Maintain open communication with parents, caregivers, and the multidisciplinary team.

  • Compensation: $20 per hour with a $1.00 increase after six-month initial review period
  • 5 weeks of holiday pay (1 week in April, 1 week in July, 1 week in September, and 2 weeks in December)
