About the position

Hearst is hiring a Beauty Editorial Assistant to play a key support role within the Women’s Health and Men’s Health beauty and grooming vertical, with a focus on developing and producing SEO and ecommerce content. The ideal candidate will have sharp reporting and writing skills and an understanding of and passion for the current beauty and grooming landscape to help develop actionable and engaging content across all our platforms. Women’s Health and Men’s Health are dedicated to helping readers live their happiest, healthiest lives. We produce digital, print, and social content across multiple pillars including health, fitness, beauty, sex & love, and news.

Responsibilities

  • Write beauty content across all WH platforms (digital, print, social, etc.) ranging from SEO assignments to explainers, product reviews, e-commerce articles, and including our regular Playbook column
  • Work with the beauty director to set lineups and pitch a variety of content across categories
  • Interview experts, analyze studies, translate beauty industry science and language into understandable content, and more
  • Support production of larger beauty projects including guides and two annual awards packages with superior organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Represent WH at industry events as needed, which can include travel.

Requirements

  • At least 1 to 2 years of post-grad experience with writing content for consumer publications, digital and/or print
  • A background in reporting and/or fact-checking is a plus
  • Interest in beauty and grooming topics
  • Passion for helping more people understand and access beauty content
  • Familiar with analytic trends and able to perform keyword research
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and curiosity for the market
  • Follow trending topics on social media.

Benefits

  • Base salary of $60,000-$62,730
  • Full-time position based in NYC office a minimum of 3 days a week
  • Position covered under the Writers Guild of America, East, Collective Bargaining Agreement
