About the position

The ED Clinical Coordinator, RN at Bourbon Community Hospital is responsible for coordinating staff scheduling, educational activities, and performance evaluations within the emergency department. This role involves ensuring the delivery of high-quality clinical services, monitoring compliance with healthcare standards, and serving as a resource for staff and external contacts regarding patient care. The position requires participation in quality assurance initiatives and ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates staff scheduling and educational/development activities.
  • Performs quality assurance studies and assists with implementation of QA/QI initiatives.
  • Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of clinical services.
  • Serves as a resource to staff and external contacts on issues related to patient care, patient flow, and clinical standards.
  • Monitors departmental compliance with applicable requirements, including accreditation and legal standards.
  • Assumes required call for the department when scheduled, sharing call duties with other Clinical Coordinators.
  • Shows quarterly proof of engagement in the hospital clinical ladder.
  • Attends one annual leadership course.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) is required.
  • Bachelor's degree (BSN) is preferred.
  • Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification is preferred.
  • Handle with Care or equivalent training must be completed within 90 days.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification is preferred.
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification is preferred.
  • Kentucky RN state licensure or compact licensure is required.
  • National Certification in area of specialty is preferred within one year.
