About the position

The Economic Development Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting new and growing businesses and cultural organizations in Berkeley. This position involves managing complex projects, providing expertise in various business services, and acting as a liaison between the City and community stakeholders. The coordinator will prepare reports and presentations for city leadership and supervise staff as directed, contributing to the mission of fostering a vibrant and economically sound community.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex, multi-phase projects with diverse stakeholders.
• Provide expertise in business services, project management, real estate, finance, organizational development, and marketing.
• Prepare reports and presentations for the City Manager and Council.
• Act as a liaison between the City and various professional groups, community organizations, and individuals.
• Represent the Office of Economic Development on interdepartmental teams.
• Supervise other staff in the Office of Economic Development as directed by the Economic Development Manager.

Requirements

• Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college with major coursework in business or public administration, economics, or a related field.
• Four years of professional level experience in economic or business development, employment, or similar administrative capacity.
• Project management and lead or supervisory experience is desirable.
• Must possess a valid California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record.
