About The Position

BVA Bears IT Solutions is seeking an Economic Development Analyst to support the Appalachian Business Builders initiative. This role will provide economic, market, and industry analysis to inform the creation of a regional Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). The position focuses on regional diagnostics, industry evaluation, and data-driven insights to support needs assessment, capital access strategy, and business plan development. The role offers a hybrid/remote work environment with periodic travel across Allegany, Garrett, and Washington Counties in Western Maryland for engagement sessions and research validation.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience required.
Experience in economic analysis, market research, or regional planning.
Strong analytical and research skills.
Ability to interpret data and communicate findings effectively.
U.S. Citizenship required.

Nice To Haves

Analytical or economic certifications preferred.
Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP) or similar credentials.

Responsibilities

Conduct analysis of regional economic conditions including industry mix, employment trends, and small business activity.
Analyze key sectors and identify emerging economic opportunities and underserved markets.
Evaluate support systems such as lenders, incubators, and workforce programs to identify service gaps.
Translate economic data into actionable insights supporting planning and strategy development.
Provide market and economic inputs for the CDFI business plan including demand and target market analysis.
Support collection of insights during stakeholder engagement activities and assist in synthesis of findings.
Maintain clear documentation of data sources, methodologies, and findings consistent with project requirements.
