About The Position

The Early Learning Center Director is responsible to ensure Catholic Christian spirit and leadership according to Diocesan and local parish policies, rules and regulations and perform as a catechetical, instructional, and managerial leader of the early childhood center. The Diocese of Orlando four core values lay the foundation for the work performed by its employees: Authenticity, Respect, Courage, and Commitment. The Director oversees and maintains a safe, faith-based learning environment, ensures high standards of developmentally appropriate practices, monitors curriculum and assessment, conducts teacher observations and evaluations, and manages Center finances. They also handle marketing, provide professional development, assist with lesson plans, ensure licensing and accreditation, oversee facility maintenance, and communicate with stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Practice of the Catholic faith is required. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. Their public behavior must not violate the faith, morals, or laws of the Church or the policies of the diocese.
  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education with at least 18 hours in Early Childhood from an accredited college or university.
  • Staff Director Credentials from the Department of Children and Families required.
  • VPK Director Credential required.
  • Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills are required, with a demonstrated ability to effectively deal with various personalities.
  • Ability to read and write routine correspondence to both external and internal parties.
  • Ability to present information in group settings and facilitate effective and edifying group discussion.
  • Ability to lift at least 15 pounds.
  • Physical demands include balancing, carrying, crouching, feeling, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, sitting, standing, reaching, stooping, talking and walking.
  • Ability to see items close.

Responsibilities

  • Fosters student’s understanding of God’s role in their lives and Christ’s relationship to each student.
  • Under the auspices of the Office of Catholic Schools and the local parish, oversees and maintains a safe, faith-based learning environment.
  • Ensures that a high level of developmentally appropriate practices is implemented.
  • Monitors the implementation of standards, curriculum, and assessment.
  • Conducts teacher observations and evaluations.
  • Conducts marketing activities on behalf of the Center including conducting tours for prospective parents.
  • Provides professional development for Center staff.
  • Assists teachers with the weekly development and execution of lesson plans and program activities.
  • Manages and monitors all finances of the Center according to Diocesan and local parish polices.
  • Ensures that all licensing and accreditation requirements are met.
  • Oversees the maintenance of all Center facilities and programs to ensure compliance with established standards of excellence and risk management/safety policies of the state, county, Diocese and parish.
  • Promotes the success of all children by effectively communicating and collaborating with the pastor, families, stakeholders, and Diocese.
  • Fulfills legal and contractual obligations.
