About the position

The Early Childhood Program Instructor is responsible for the supervision and safety of children ages 3-5 and the basic instruction, including planning and leading enrichment activities and games. The instructor will communicate with the Program Coordinator regarding the children in their care. This position is seasonal and requires availability on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to Noon.

Responsibilities

• Attend mandatory staff training sessions
• Assist in the planning of activities
• Implement facility policies and safety rules
• Teach early childhood classes
• Communicate with parents/guardians on program activities and child's progress
• Report all injuries and unsafe conditions to Program Coordinator
• Ensure safety and supervision of all activities
• Oversee sign-in and pick up by parents
• Report regularly to Program Director to provide updates and receive feedback
• Organize and maintain a neat and clean room space
• Prepare list of needed program supplies and give to Program Director prior to the beginning of programs
• Perform duties as assigned or necessary

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or working towards Bachelor's in Education or related discipline
• Experience working with children
• At least 1 year experience working in a classroom setting
• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
• Ability to read staff manuals, memos, and attendance sheets
• Ability to complete attendance sheets, accident reports, incident reports and participant behavior reports using prescribed format
• Ability to give verbal direction to subordinates and communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, citizens, and the public
• Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently
