About the position

The Early Childhood Paraprofessional position at Brookline Public Schools involves supporting kindergarten students, including those with special needs, in their daily learning activities. Responsibilities

• Plan and assist during daily learning activities.
• Support regular and special education students in accessing classroom activities.
• Manage and instruct small and large groups of students.
• Support the classroom teacher throughout the school day.
• Prepare and coordinate materials for learning activities as requested by the teacher.
• Assist students in following classroom routines and engaging during instruction.
• Support young children's social problem-solving skills and behavior regulation.
• Greet students and facilitate smooth transitions between activities.
• Scaffold learning during instruction under teacher supervision.
• Follow through on IEP goals as directed by the teacher.
• Assist students with bathroom procedures and maintain a safe environment on the playground.
• Review classroom environment at the end of the day to prepare for the next day.
• Maintain classroom displays and project work as requested by the teacher.
• Implement student educational programs and behavior management guidelines competently.
• Provide a positive and supportive learning experience for students.
• Participate in data collection and analysis related to student progress.

Requirements

• Relevant work experience (1 year) with young children preferred.
• Bachelor's degree.

Nice-to-haves

• Classroom experience preferred.
• Ability to modify directions and provide prompts to students as needed.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
