About The Position

Vancouver Talmud Torah is seeking part-time Early Childhood Classroom Aides for the 2026/27 school year. Vancouver Talmud Torah is an inclusive Jewish community day school committed to academic excellence and nurturing lifelong learners who engage the world through Jewish traditions and values. Requirements

  • Minimum of a valid BC Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) certificate.
  • Valid First Aid Certificate.
  • Minimum of three years experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or school setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively in partnership with families and staff.

Nice To Haves

  • An Early Childhood Educator (ECE) certificate is an asset.
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support classroom teachers and ensure the care, safety, and education of young children.
  • Provide guidance and care of students in accordance with the philosophy of VTT’s Early Childhood program.
  • Ensure the safety, well-being, and supervision of students throughout the school day, including during lunch and nap/rest times.
  • Assist children with toilet routines (including changing them when accidents occur).
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and welcoming classroom environment (including daily art supplies and dishes) in compliance with Vancouver Coastal Health and licensing regulations.
  • Maintain daily verbal communication with parents and caregivers (when applicable).
  • Develop, plan, and implement age-appropriate indoor/outdoor activities, field trips, and general/Judaics curricula (songs, stories, numeracy, literacy, etc.).
  • Identify student progress or challenges and communicate them directly to the Early Childhood Director.
  • Participate in Parent/Teacher conferences.
  • Attend regular Early Childhood staff meetings and participate in ongoing Professional Development sessions.
