About the position

This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight. The role involves applying engineering techniques to design, install, modify, analyze, repair and test fluid systems and other mechanically functioning equipment. You will be responsible for the development, release, and support of engineering artifacts across the development cycle to support hardware fabrication, assembly, verification, test and operations. You will implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information. Additionally, you will research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and test fluid components and systems, propulsion systems, and mechanical systems.
  • Integrate materials and processes, manufacturing, systems test, operations, and systems engineering.
  • Implement operating procedures and resolve system malfunctions.
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals and specifications to evaluate feasibility and maintenance requirements.
  • Investigate equipment failures and diagnose faulty operations.

Requirements

  • Successfully completed an internship with Blue Origin in 2024.
  • Enrolled or recently graduating student attending a college or university.
  • Able to start working full-time on or before September of 2025.
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechatronics, or similar discipline.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs.
  • Self-driven with the ability to seek out requirements with minimal direction.
  • Strong written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for Blue's Mission with a strong desire to continuously learn and improve.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice-to-haves

  • M.S. degree in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering.
