Responsibilities

  • Assisting in planning and designing Abandoned Mine Land (AML) and reclamation projects
  • Impoundment design and inspections
  • Site design and grading
  • Stormwater design and permitting (including National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System [NPDES])
  • Preparing technical reports
  • Project management
  • Working with senior engineering staff to manage mining-related reclamation projects
  • Domestic travel for visits to client mine sites and corporate meetings

Requirements

  • Bachelor of science or master of science degree in civil, environmental, or mining engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • A minimum of 1 year of mining engineering work experience
  • At least 1 year of experience using mining-related software such as AutoCAD Map 3D, Carlson, Rotational Equilibrium Analysis of Multilayered Earthworks (REAME) or equivalent, Sedcad Software or other equivalent commercial packages
  • A minimum of 1 year of slope stabilization experience
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience interpreting and applying the guidelines in the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)
