About the position

MERL is offering an internship focused on conducting research in electric machine fault analysis and detection methods. The role is designed for motivated Ph.D. students with a strong background in electric machines and related fields, aiming to contribute to advancements in fault detection and predictive maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on electric machine fault analysis and detection methods.
  • Develop and implement electric and magnetic modeling techniques.
  • Engage in machine design and prototyping activities.
  • Perform harmonic analysis related to electric machines.
  • Utilize data analysis and machine learning algorithms for fault detection.
  • Collaborate with the research team to publish findings.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. student in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, applied physics, or a related field.
  • Solid background in electric machines with a publication record.
  • Experience in electric and magnetic modeling, machine design, and prototyping.
  • Knowledge of harmonic analysis and fault detection methods.
  • Strong programming skills in Python/PyTorch.
  • Research experience in modeling and analysis of electric machines.
