About the position

Shermco, North America's largest NETA-accredited electrical testing organization, is seeking an Electrical and Instrumentation Foreman (EIS) to lead and supervise utility and construction focused scopes. The EIS will play a crucial role in the growth of Shermco's services to SaskPower, ensuring that all activities are executed safely, on time, and within budget, in accordance with Shermco and client standards. The position emphasizes leadership, safety, and effective communication to foster long-term relationships with clients and promote a culture of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, guidance, mentorship, and direction to crew leaders and site crews.
  • Promote an inclusive and respectful work environment with an open door policy.
  • Foster effective communication and a team-oriented environment.
  • Build a culture of safety and ensure all staff prioritize safety as a mindset.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and site-specific standards.
  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of assigned crews to meet safety and schedule milestones.
  • Oversee site-specific procurement and manage subcontractors effectively.
  • Attend site-specific and client meetings as required.
  • Resolve site issues and improve productivity measures.
  • Assist in planning project timelines and deliverables.
  • Track project progress and report to management.
  • Evaluate completed projects to identify improvements for future work scopes.
  • Document safety incidents and encourage safe work practices.
  • Assist in investigations of incidents involving crew members.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of industrial experience
  • 3+ years of supervision experience
  • Experience in substation and/or high voltage apparatus construction preferred
  • Thorough understanding of CEC
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings
  • Strong knowledge of electrical construction and maintenance materials and techniques
  • Possess strong supervision and leadership qualities
  • Ability to analyze and mitigate safety risks
  • Knowledge of other trades' work requirements
  • Ability to complete work-related documents accurately
  • Industrial facility safe work qualifications
  • Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Valid driver's license with a clean abstract
  • Availability for out-of-town travel and overnight stays

  • Experience with safety incident documentation and investigations
  • Familiarity with project management tools
  • Experience in mentoring and developing team members
