About the position

The Store Associate at DSW plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service both in-store and through omni-channel services. This part-time position focuses on understanding customer needs, assisting with transactions, and maintaining a clean and organized shopping environment. Store Associates are brand ambassadors who embody the company's values and ensure a positive shopping experience for all customers.

Responsibilities

  • Greet every customer with a helpful and friendly approach, assessing their needs and providing personalized service.
  • Share the benefits of the DSW Loyalty program and enroll new members.
  • Answer questions regarding products and complete customer transactions through in-store sales or digital orders.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and safe shopping environment by performing regular cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Receive inbound freight and prepare merchandise for the sales floor according to DSW standards.
  • Complete all functions of the fulfillment process, including locating items and ensuring readiness for pick up/delivery.
  • Follow DSW's policies and procedures during customer transactions, ensuring accuracy in money handling.
  • Partner with the Customer Experience Leader (CEL) to address customer service issues as they arise.
  • Actively participate in daily team meetings and ongoing training, demonstrating teamwork and inclusivity.

Requirements

  • Availability to meet the needs of the business.
  • Professional, friendly demeanor with a strong customer service focus.
  • Ability to move quickly to meet time-bound expectations.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in using technology for customer interactions, including registers and mobile devices.
  • Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing or walking around the store.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on an occasional to frequent basis.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl on a frequent basis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous retail experience (not required but preferred).
