About the position

The Devereux Pocono Driver position is a part-time role focused on providing safe transportation for residents of the Pocono Center, which serves adults with developmental disabilities. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, with options for morning, afternoon, or split shifts. The driver will also supervise residents, assist with vehicle maintenance, and respond to emergencies as needed, all while ensuring the physical and emotional needs of the residents are met.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and appropriate transportation for all Pocono Center residents
• Supervise residents and ensure their physical, emotional, and personal needs are met
• Assist Coordinator in vehicle maintenance
• Perform safety inspections on assigned vehicles and ensure cleanliness
• Respond to emergency situations as necessary
• Serve as courier when needed
• Attend in-service training programs to develop skills in dealing with residents effectively
• Exercise the rules of safety at all times
• Perform related duties, special assignments, and projects as assigned by coordinator.

Requirements

• Two or more years of driving experience
• Good documentation and organizational skills
• Valid Pennsylvania driver's license with a clear record
• Physical ability to regularly operate Devereux vehicles
• Ability to perform CPR, First Aid procedures, and Crisis Prevention/Intervention techniques
• Free of dependency and abuse of illegal or illicit drugs, alcohol, inhalants, or other chemical substances.
