About The Position

Cedarbrook Senior Care & Rehab is seeking a Part-time (PRN) Resident Driver/Delivery Worker for its facilities in Allentown & Fountain Hill. This role involves transporting residents to and from leisure outings, assisting them during these outings, and delivering supplies between facilities. The position requires operating a motor vehicle, assisting residents with mobility (including those in wheelchairs), coordinating trip logistics, and maintaining basic vehicle records and inspections. When not engaged in Life Enrichment activities, the driver will support Environmental Services with inter-campus deliveries. The role emphasizes developing rapport with residents and staff in a nurturing environment.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of methods and techniques used in safely loading, securing, and unloading passengers onto paratransit vehicles using a 5-point tie-down system.
  • Skill in the operation and basic maintenance of assigned motor vehicle.
  • Ability to find geographic locations within the County and the immediate area.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to keep records of activities and tasks completed.
  • Ability to lift, maneuver, and support residents in either manual or power wheelchairs for loading and unloading.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with facility staff, Lehigh County garage, and residents at all times.
  • Education equivalent to high school or GED graduate.
  • Six to twelve months of work driving, loading, and unloading paratransit and box truck/motor vehicles.
  • Safe driving record with a clear Motor Vehicle Report.
  • Experience with the elderly and disabled population.
  • Compassion, patience, and empathy.

Responsibilities

  • Transport residents to and from leisure outings.
  • Assist residents while in the community and with their leisure needs during outings.
  • Deliver supplies and other items between facilities.
  • Assist ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals, including those in manual or power wheelchairs, to enter and leave the vehicle.
  • Receive instructions for trips and assist with pre-trip coordination.
  • Record mileage driven.
  • Perform basic inspection of the vehicle pre and post trips.
  • Fuel the vehicle at the county garage.
  • Assist Environmental Services with delivering supplies between campuses when not working within the Life Enrichment Department.
  • Develop a rapport with both residents and staff in a nurturing environment.
