About The Position

Cedarbrook Senior Care & Rehab is seeking a Part-time (PRN) Resident Driver/Delivery Worker for its facilities in Allentown & Fountain Hill. This role involves transporting residents to and from leisure outings, assisting them in the community, and delivering supplies between facilities. The driver will work up to 20 hours per week with varied hours Monday-Friday and some weekends. Responsibilities include assisting ambulatory and non-ambulatory residents with vehicle entry/exit, coordinating trips, and ensuring resident safety and comfort during outings. Outings may include shopping, sporting events, dining, and scenic tours. The driver will also assist Environmental Services with inter-campus supply delivery and report to the Director of ES when not engaged in Life Enrichment duties. This position requires recording mileage, performing basic vehicle inspections, and fueling the vehicle. Developing a rapport with residents and staff in a nurturing environment is essential.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of methods and techniques used in safely loading, securing, and unloading passengers onto paratransit vehicles using a 5-point tie-down system.
  • Skill in the operation and basic maintenance of assigned motor vehicle.
  • Ability to find geographic locations within the County and the immediate area.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to keep records of activities and tasks completed.
  • Ability to lift, maneuver, and support residents in either manual or power wheelchair for loading and unloading.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with facility staff, Lehigh County garage, and residents at all times.
  • Six to twelve months work driving, loading, and unloading paratransit and box truck/motor vehicles.
  • Safe driving record with a clear Motor Vehicle Report.
  • Experience with the elderly and disabled population.
  • Compassion, patience, and empathy.

Responsibilities

  • Transport residents to and from leisure outings.
  • Assist residents while in the community and with leisure needs during outings.
  • Deliver supplies and other items between facilities.
  • Assist ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals to enter and leave the vehicle.
  • Receive instructions for trips and assist with coordination.
  • Record mileage driven.
  • Perform basic inspection of the vehicle pre and post trips.
  • Fuel the vehicle at the county garage.
  • Assist Environmental Services with delivering supplies between campuses.
  • Develop a rapport with both residents and staff in a nurturing environment.
