About the position

The Drafter/CAD Operator at MORI Associates will support a multi-discipline engineering organization by creating and modifying detailed drawings using AutoCAD software. This role involves working closely with engineers to produce original designs and ensuring compliance with engineering standards and codes. The position requires a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical design principles, as well as the ability to work with various sources of information to resolve drawing production issues.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete sets of drawings including multiple plan, section, cross-sectional, and elevation views.
• Modify existing drawings and monitor work for compliance with applicable codes and engineering practices.
• Work from hand-drawn sketches, red-marked drawings, and verbal information supplied by engineers.
• Develop and prepare single-line diagrams, panel, wiring, and lighting schedules.
• Select low and medium voltage power distribution equipment and components.
• Independently resolve problems encountered in the production of drawings.
• Utilize mathematical formulas to draw land contours and compute weights, load capacities, and dimensions.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in a technical or engineering field.
• Minimum of 7 years of drafting experience with emphasis on mechanical/electro-mechanical assemblies and electrical schematics.
• Proficient in AutoCAD with experience in producing drawing packages using current software releases.
• Working knowledge of 120/240/480V power distribution systems.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with SolidWorks for 3-D modeling.
• Ability to work onsite at the Monrovia DSN facility as needed.
