About The Position

Morgan Stanley is a leading global financial services firm. The Fixed Income Division (FID) is seeking a documentation negotiator with an emphasis on ISDA and repo trading agreements. This role is open to Associate or Vice President levels, depending on experience. The position involves daily interaction with Sales & Trading, Risk Management, Credit Risk, Legal, Operations, and other ISG stakeholders, as well as direct engagement with clients and their counsel. The Institutional Securities Documentation Team, part of FID’s Business Control Unit, covers contract negotiation for FID trading agreements and focuses on Non-Market Risk, Counterparty Risk, Conduct Risk, and Contract Negotiations.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience (in an investment bank or law firm) negotiating trading documentation, with a focus on ISDA Master Agreements and/or repurchase agreements.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with ISDA Agreements and/or repurchase agreements.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and thorough.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and provide transparency during negotiations.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and deliver results within tight timeframes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively on group projects and independently on individual assignments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Mature and professional demeanor.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, open trading floor environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (required).

Responsibilities

  • Drafting and negotiating legal trading documentation, including master agreements, credit support documents, amendments, and ancillary documents, for a wide range of financial products.
  • Focusing on ISDA Master Agreements and associated documents, as well as repurchase agreements, including documentation for mandated sponsored clearing.
  • Serving as the primary contact for an active book of client negotiations, involving daily interactions with internal stakeholders, clients, and outside counsel.
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders in Sales & Trading, Credit Risk, Risk Management, Legal, Operations, and other departments regarding documentation terms, escalations, and prioritization.
  • Ensuring strict adherence to established policies and procedures.
