About the position

The Field Engineer position involves providing field oversight of DSA construction projects in Alameda and Monterey Counties. This role includes hybrid telework opportunities, requiring in-person work at the designated HQ location at least three days per week, transitioning to four days per week starting July 1, 2025. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment. The position is responsible for school construction site supervision of State-owned essential services structures, public K-12 and community college school building structures during the construction phase, ensuring quality and code compliance under the jurisdiction of the Division of the State Architect (DSA).

Responsibilities

• Provide field oversight of DSA construction projects.
• Supervise school construction sites for State-owned essential services structures.

• Oversee inspection and required testing of building structure standards.

Requirements

• Must reside in California upon appointment.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical documents.
• Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and electronic plan review programs.
• Good customer service-oriented attitude.
• Ability to work independently and contribute effectively in a team environment.
