About the position

The District Court Clerk I (Lautenberg) position is responsible for authoring the official court record in a court of limited jurisdiction for District Court traffic and criminal arraignment or civil small claims court proceedings. The clerk prepares documents ordered by the court and performs other duties as required.

Responsibilities

  • Author the official court record for District Court traffic and criminal arraignment or civil small claims court proceedings.
  • Prepare documents ordered by the court.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of work experience in a court or legal setting, including the preparation and/or processing of legal forms and documents in court proceedings.
  • Ability to type at a rate of 40 net words per minute.

Nice-to-haves

  • Education at an accredited college or university in a paralegal, legal studies, law program, or a closely related field may be substituted for specialized experience.
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Political Science, or a closely related field may be substituted for one (1) year of specialized experience.
