About the position
The Distribution Teammate - Equipment Operator at Owens & Minor plays a crucial role in the warehouse operations, primarily focusing on manual tasks without the use of Material Handling Equipment. This position involves unloading, receiving, and processing shipments, as well as accurately picking, packing, sorting, and loading products for outbound delivery. The role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and adherence to company standards while ensuring that customer specifications are met.
Responsibilities
- Unload pallets and cases from inbound trailers and/or containers manually using the pallet jack.
- Accurately count, verify, and receive product using radio frequency (RF) equipment and/or Voice Pick Technology; document variances.
- Select products and quantities as directed by Voice Pick Technology and/or RF scanner and place items into totes on conveyor belt.
- Prepare sortation area by setting up pallets and carts for product.
- Move cartons and totes from conveyor belts and/or rollers and place on pallets and/or carts according to assigned batch.
- Use RF scanner to ensure that totes, pallets, and carts are loaded correctly onto trucks for customer delivery.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment and follow safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct physical inventories as required and perform basic math calculations.
- Maintain productivity and quality standards and perform additional duties as directed.
Requirements
- General knowledge of basic topics (math, reading, basic accounting, typing, etc.).
- Prior experience working in a warehouse/distribution center is a plus.
- Warehouse/Operations certification is a plus.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment and meet performance standards/individual performance goals.
- Good attention to detail and dependable attendance.
