About the position

The Distribution Relay Ops Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and scheduling distribution device settings and SCADA/DMS commissioning. This role provides technical and administrative oversight for the DA Field Support team, ensuring a strong working relationship with statewide region offices, including engineering and line networks. The supervisor is expected to lead safety initiatives, manage field data integrity, and oversee restoration efforts during storm events, while also providing developmental opportunities for employees.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safety leadership to ensure a safe work environment and safety culture exists for all assigned employees.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of staff monitoring workload on a daily and weekly basis, shifting resources as needed to meet commitments and DA reliability initiatives.
  • Direct restoration workers for storm events, both regular and after hours.
  • Coordinate the assembly and lead out of town storm response teams when necessary.
  • Manage distribution line contractors supporting distribution automation functions.
  • Act as a subject matter expert to facilitate the timely completion of projects and tasks.
  • Provide developmental opportunities for employees through training opportunities, both in-house and external.
  • Provide oversight, support, and direction to employees to ensure the work management process is properly followed.
  • Work closely with management, engineering, and DA Field Support Specialists to ensure field support processes are defined, communicated, and properly implemented.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of distribution line construction, operations, and maintenance.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of safety rules, practices, and procedures.
  • Computer skills with a working knowledge of Distribution Applications.
  • Knowledge of distribution SCADA applications and configuring and troubleshooting distribution line devices.
  • Experience training new employees and network crews.
  • Ability to respond to local and out of town storm restoration activities during regular and after hours.
  • Knowledge of distribution line materials and management processes, and environmental processes associated with handling oil-filled equipment or other environmentally sensitive areas.
  • Knowledge of administering IBEW contracts.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical one-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and instruction books.
