About the position
The Entry Level Distribution Engineer will be responsible for producing engineering designs for energy distribution projects, specifically focusing on electric power distribution and leadership aspects such as make-ready and smart antenna projects. This role involves preparing forestry trimming requests, facilitating permit and Right-of-Way acquisition, developing a Bill of Materials (BOM), estimating costs, and providing engineering support during construction. The engineer will also perform field inspections and collaborate with other electric utility disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Produce engineering designs for energy distribution projects.
- Prepare forestry trimming requests and facilitate permit and Right-of-Way acquisition.
- Develop a Bill of Materials (BOM) and estimate costs for projects.
- Provide engineering support during construction and conduct post-construction reviews.
- Perform field inspections and return to the office for engineering design work.
- Interact with other electric utility disciplines as a core team member.
Requirements
- B.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is required.
- Minimum 6 months of internship experience in the electric utility industry, including knowledge of primary and secondary distribution systems.
- Ability to use design software packages and possess general construction knowledge.
- Strong interpersonal skills and self-motivation/initiative.
- Desire to learn and grow within the field.
- Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with all levels in the organization and with outside clients and agencies.
- Analytical competence to interact with engineers and experienced distribution system designers.
