About the position

The Tetra Tech Disaster Recovery Team is seeking a dedicated Case Manager to support relief efforts in Iowa following recent disaster events. This role involves providing case management services to disaster victims, assisting them with recovery, and coordinating access to various assistance programs, including FEMA's Individuals and Households Program (IHP) and Direct Housing Program. The ideal candidate will have strong social work experience, case management skills, and a thorough understanding of FEMA policies and procedures. The work location is hybrid, allowing for both remote and on-site responsibilities. Key responsibilities include conducting comprehensive assessments of clients' disaster-related needs and creating individualized recovery plans. The Case Manager will assist clients in navigating and applying for FEMA's Individuals and Households Program (IHP) and Direct Housing Program, ensuring they understand the process and meet eligibility requirements. Additionally, the role requires providing social work services by addressing emotional, financial, and practical needs and connecting clients with appropriate community resources and support systems. The Case Manager will also be responsible for answering phone calls, providing guidance, and directing clients to suitable assistance programs. Coordination with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, nonprofits, and community organizations, is essential to facilitate resource access and service delivery. Maintaining accurate and confidential case files and documentation in accordance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements is a critical aspect of the role. Furthermore, participation in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with disaster response and recovery strategies, including FEMA policies and procedures, is expected. The position requires the ability to travel up to 50 miles to job locations, with mileage being reimbursed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field preferred but not required to apply.
  • Experience in social work and case management, with a strong understanding of FEMA's Individuals and Households Program (IHP) and Direct Housing Program policies and procedures.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license are required; must use your own vehicle.
  • Ability to work on-site in Iowa and travel to various shelter locations during operating hours.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations.
  • Knowledge of social services resources and support systems.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
