About the position

This position involves supporting negotiations with partners and leading internal cross-functional deal assessment teams. The role requires identifying new licensing opportunities and respective partners, negotiating term sheets, and preparing business cases for presentation to senior management. The candidate will manage the assigned opportunity evaluation and approval process by leading cross-functional teams across various departments such as Portfolio, Technical Development, Finance, IP/Legal, Regulatory, and Marketing. Additionally, the role includes developing business cases and terms, negotiating contracts, and supporting the US legal team in concluding and managing contracts to execution. The candidate will also partner with Project Management to coordinate Due Diligence and contract input from other functional areas, interface with senior managers across various functions, monitor and report on assigned project status, and ensure timely closure of CARs. The position requires managing the SANITY system to ensure all assigned deal opportunities are reported accurately and updated as the deal process unfolds.

Responsibilities

  • Support negotiations with partners and lead the internal cross-functional deal assessment teams.
  • Identify new licensing opportunities and respective partners, negotiate term sheets, and prepare business cases to present to senior management.
  • Manage the assigned opportunity evaluation and approval process by leading cross-functional teams with Portfolio, Technical Development, Finance, IP/Legal, Regulatory, Marketing, etc.
  • Develop business cases/terms and seek approval for new business development opportunities with minimal supervision.
  • Negotiate contracts and amendments and support the US legal team in concluding and managing contracts to execution.
  • Partner with Project Management to coordinate Due Diligence and contract input from other functional areas.
  • Interface with senior managers across various functions to ensure that BD&L is meeting internal and external needs and develop effective strategies.
  • Effectively monitor and report on assigned project status, program milestones, and escalation of any project needs.
  • Ensure timely closure of CARs including assessment of the projects.
  • Manage SANITY system and ensure all assigned deal opportunities are reported accurately and updated as deal process unfolds and closed.
  • Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision as required to close BD&L deals.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 8-10 years of BD&L and business experience, with at least 5 years focused on the US Pharmaceutical market.
  • Experience in U.S. Rx/Generic Business Development is highly preferred.
  • Experience building financial business cases, financial analysis, and product P&L models.
  • A deep understanding of pharmaceutical forecasting and competitive dynamics in the pharmaceutical and Gx industry.
  • Strong knowledge of legal matters related to licensing contracts.
  • The ability to influence others to achieve results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience should encompass more than one functional area (e.g., product development, regulatory affairs, product management, marketing, business development, finance, etc.).
