About the position

The Director of Technical Writing for Platform Content Experience at Salesforce is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the creation and management of technical content that supports the Salesforce Platform. This position involves developing a strategic vision for content that enhances customer engagement and success, while also leading a team of writers and content strategists. The role requires a strong focus on collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a compelling strategic vision and roadmap for content that supports the Platform business.
  • Share team priorities and accomplishments with CX, cross-functional leaders, stakeholders, and executives.
  • Prioritize work and assignments rigorously and lead the execution of the team's roadmap.
  • Measure performance and customer success, making adjustments based on research and feedback.
  • Inspire, coach, mentor, and provide professional development for the team of writers and content strategists.
  • Drive innovation and improve productivity by streamlining operations and incorporating new tools and technologies.
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard new writers and managers as the team grows.
  • Contribute to overall Content Experience team initiatives.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in the technical content development field.
  • 3+ years in a management role, with at least 2 years managing other managers.
  • 2+ years experience creating developer documentation or managing developer documentation teams.
  • Strong strategic planning skills and experience.
  • Experience leading organizations and managing operations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to inspire and empower teams.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Strategic problem solver with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, preferably in technology or software.
  • A degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Salesforce products and ecosystem.
  • Experience with web or mobile software development.
  • Experience with generative AI and LLM-based solutions.
  • Experience with source control software such as Perforce or GitHub.
  • Experience with technical authoring and publishing tools, such as Markdown and DITA.
