About the position

Databricks is seeking a Director of Technical Revenue to lead the development and execution of a global revenue strategy that aligns with corporate goals while ensuring compliance with GAAP and operational efficiencies. This role involves fostering relationships with key business partners and external auditors, preparing technical accounting memos, and managing order-to-revenue controls to support Sarbanes Oxley compliance. The Director will also provide thought leadership on revenue recognition policies and mentor a high-performing team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a global revenue strategy aligned with corporate goals.
• Prepare detailed technical accounting memos to support financial reporting and compliance.
• Liaise with external auditors on all revenue-related audit issues.
• Design, implement, and manage order to revenue controls for Sarbanes Oxley compliance.
• Partner with key leaders to understand their objectives and develop a revenue roadmap.
• Provide guidance on technical revenue recognition policy matters and global processes.
• Work closely with Revenue Assurance and Revenue Accounting to ensure accurate revenue recognition.
• Build, develop, and mentor a high-performing team.
• Lead quarterly executive readouts on accounting policy initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• 15+ years of business experience including 7+ years of accounting experience in revenue or related areas.
• Demonstrated strategic thinking related to revenue functions.
• Leadership experience in aligning project goals with organizational goals.
• Acute business acumen and understanding of ASC 606 Revenue issues.
• Detailed understanding of consumption-based accounting under ASC 606.
