About the position

Under administrative direction, The Director of Student Financial Services is responsible for leadership of the College's office of Student Financial Services, including oversight of staff development, operational and strategic planning, financial aid packaging, compliance, student accounts receivable, student billing, disbursement, and fund management, and the delivery of outstanding financial services to students and families. We are seeking an experienced and engaging leader to take this department to a higher level of student service and campus wide collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Fosters a positive and supportive environment within Student Financial Services by prioritizing clear communication, timely assistance, and personalized financial aid guidance for new and returning students in both undergraduate and graduate populations.
  • Creates a financial services environment that promotes early and regular interaction with students and families about financial aid, financing an education, and the timely resolution of student accounts.
  • Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates Student Financial Services staff, providing ongoing training and support to ensure staff development growth both technically and professionally.
  • Coordinates the installation, setup, and operation of automated software systems and preparation of printed and electronic materials used to serve students and families.
  • Collaborates with College leadership and a third-party vendor on strategic planning aimed at maximizing the effectiveness of financial aid philosophies, procedures, and programs.
  • Coordinates streamlined interdepartmental processes within the College regarding changes in student statuses which affect student accounts and financial aid.
  • Oversees and participates in the determination of aid eligibility, accurate packaging and disbursement of student financial aid in accordance with guidelines and regulations.
  • Oversees the management of student accounts receivable functions including assessment of charges/fees, generation and disbursement of student bills, and collection of debt/accounts.
  • Minimizes the College's bad debt exposure and records appropriate write-offs of uncollectible accounts.
  • Fields inquiries and questions from students and their families regarding their accounts, payment plans, and financial obligations to the College.
  • Keeps current with all federal and state financial aid and cash management regulations related to the awarding and delivery of student financial aid.
  • Monitors and provides oversight for the administration of various federal and state financial aid programs.
  • Prepares and submits financial aid data on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for various reports.
  • Administers the College's tuition exchange and tuition remission programs for employees and their dependents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in related experience.
  • Work experience in a higher education setting, preferably in financial aid, student accounts, and/or student financial services.
  • Proficiency with Windows, Office 365, and database software systems (Jenzabar, Powerfaids, and Slate preferred).

Benefits

  • Salary range for this position is $75,000-$80,000.
