About the position

The Director of Revenue Recognition at Packsize will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with revenue recognition standards while partnering with various departments such as Accounting, Sales, and Legal. This position requires a strong understanding of ASC 606, particularly in the context of a SaaS business model, and involves reviewing contracts, providing guidance during negotiations, and leading training on revenue recognition policies. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be adept at managing complex revenue recognition issues.

Responsibilities

  • Review complex revenue contracts for compliance with US GAAP and determine the appropriate accounting treatment
  • Prepare periodic SSP analysis to provide business insights and accurate revenue recognition
  • Maintain documentation for all review and compliance work completed
  • Work with the Revenue Recognition team and respective business partners to develop and maintain SOX Compliance
  • Establish standard contract structures for both existing & new products and work cross-functionally to maintain a scalable quote-to-cash process
  • Work with Accounting, Sales, and Legal during contract negotiations and provide suggestions and guidance to ensure proper revenue recognition
  • Lead training on revenue recognition rules, policies and practices within the Company, and within the Sales organization
  • Engage with external auditors and understand/respond to the changes in the audit approach
  • Keep up with industry trends and build relationships with external technical accounting advisors
  • Deliver the highest standard of departmental, cross departmental and cross region customer service
  • Lead and assist with other special projects, as needed

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent relevant experience required
  • CPA strongly desired
  • 5+ years combined Big 4 and Industry experience, with relevant revenue recognition experience desired
  • Primary audit experience in SaaS/software industry
  • Verbal and written communication skills with ability to present ideas in a clear, concise fashion to technical and non-technical audiences as well as high level executives
  • Project Management skills including planning, task assignment, status tracking and reporting
