About the position
The Director of Public Safety at TidalHealth is responsible for overseeing the Department of Public Safety, which includes managing security, emergency management, public safety receptionists, and parking valet services. This role aims to create a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and employees within the healthcare facility.
Responsibilities
- Direct the TidalHealth Department of Public Safety.
- Manage security operations and emergency management protocols.
- Oversee public safety receptionists and parking valet services.
- Develop and implement programs and procedures to ensure safety and security.
- Participate in weekend coverage rotation and respond to emergency calls as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field is required.
- Master's degree in criminal justice, emergency management or related field is preferred.
- Valid driver's license and appropriate driving record is required.
- Licensed as a Special Police Officer within six months of hire or transfer.
- SCHEP, AEM, or CEM certification is preferred.
- Minimum of ten years in law enforcement/security is required.
- Minimum of ten years in Emergency Management is required.
- Minimum of five years of leadership experience is required.
- Experience working at a healthcare facility is required.
Nice-to-haves
- SCHEP (certified Healthcare Emergency Professional) certification.
- AEM (Associate Emergency Manager) certification.
- CEM (certified Emergency Manager) certification.
