About the position

The Director of Product Management at Cox Automotive is responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of specific products, from conception to end-of-life. This role involves driving decision-making processes, managing project impacts, and collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders to shape the future direction of products. The Director will work closely with the Go to Market team to develop effective strategies, ensuring that products are well-positioned and meet customer needs. Additionally, this position requires leadership in guiding product managers and other stakeholders to achieve the product vision and manage the product roadmap effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the overall decision-making process for product management.
  • Manage impacts on deliverables and schedules across the product roadmap.
  • Collaborate with internal and external business constituents to determine product direction.
  • Work with the Go to Market team to develop successful strategies for product positioning and target customers.
  • Lead product managers, application owners, UX designers, and other stakeholders to achieve product vision.
  • Identify and address gaps and opportunities within product suites.
  • Define and manage the product roadmap, setting expectations with stakeholders.
  • Partner with the Research and Insights team to understand market trends and competitors.
  • Provide vision and leadership, communicating priorities and challenges across teams.
  • Ensure products meet optimal price margins and specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 10 years' experience in a related field.
  • 5+ years' experience in a management or leadership role.
  • 7-10+ years of proven experience in product development and launching products/services.
  • Extensive understanding of business and technology backgrounds.
  • Excellent instincts and strong business acumen.
  • Expert knowledge of the product development life cycle.
  • Proven ability to manage a portfolio of products.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and demo skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree and 8 years' experience or a Ph.D. and 5 years' experience in a related field.
  • Experience in consulting, product marketing, sales, and channel management.
