About the position

The Director of Preconstruction is responsible to lead a team of Preconstruction Project Managers to prepare and optimize solar, wind, and energy storage projects for the South Region for build ready construction from early development to handover to construction team. Supports the South Region Development team to meet critical development timelines by driving engineering, procurement, permitting, interconnection, construction planning, and other activities as needed to achieve FID. Supports the Project Execution team by ensuring the project is build ready ahead of mobilization, and is able to meet capex and schedule requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day to day management of the PreConstruction team including resource planning, project assignment, performance management, problem solving and issue resolution.
  • Manage internal RWE relationships with Development, Execution, Engineering, Procurement, I&V, etc.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the VP of South Development and the rest of the Development team.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for relationships with all 3rd party contractors.
  • Provide technical knowledge, experience, and oversight for projects.
  • Drive continuous improvement in the PreConstruction Team.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
  • Extensive experience in the construction industry managing projects and specifically renewable energy projects will also be considered.
  • Minimum of 15 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 12 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 8 years’ experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage customer relationships.
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
