About the position

The Director of Veteran Support Services (DVSS) at Veterans Community Project (VCP) is responsible for overseeing the implementation and operation of programs aimed at supporting Veterans through the VCP Village and the Veteran Outreach Program. This leadership role requires a skilled manager who can build community partnerships, ensure high standards of care, and work closely with the Executive Director to set strategic goals for the organization. The DVSS will lead a team dedicated to providing inclusive services that help Veterans regain control over their lives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide visionary leadership for the Veteran Support Services team, setting clear goals and accountability measures.
  • Work with the Executive Director to develop and implement long-term strategic plans for Veteran support services.
  • Directly supervise the Lead Residential Case Manager and Lead Community/Outreach Case Manager, providing guidance and professional development.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Veteran Support Services department to meet Veteran needs effectively.
  • Lead regular team meetings to align on strategic priorities and performance metrics.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and professional growth by assessing staff performance and providing feedback.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between VCP and external service partners, advocating for VCP's mission.
  • Establish a culture of continuous improvement through training needs identification and program implementation.
  • Apply critical thinking skills to identify issues and implement effective strategies for resolution.
  • Monitor and assess program outcomes using data to drive decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership or managerial role, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution, critical thinking, and decision-making under pressure.
  • Strong leadership presence and ability to inspire and motivate staff and stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and data entry.
